Ideal for adults, the elderly, children, and pregnant women.

The almond tree is evergreen, belonging to the Rosaceae botanical species. Since ancient times it has been considered a sacred tree: in Egyptian culture, almonds accompanied the eternal journey of the Pharaohs and in ancient Greece, the almond tree was a metaphor for returning life – after the winter cold, the almond blossom is the first to bloom in spring. In yogic tradition, it was believed that two tablespoons of almond oil a day could help purify the body of toxins, and make the skin smooth and soft. Used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), it is linked to the well-being of the body’s Metal energy, of which the lung and intestines are part. This is why TCM suggests ingesting almond oil to promote airway and intestine health.

The almond tree originated in the Middle East and the Indies, slowly spread throughout the Mediterranean basin, and is now cultivated all over the world. Almond oil is extracted using a mechanical press; the percentage of oil that can be extracted varies from seed to seed, and is between 50-70%.  Raw virgin sweet almond oil is characterized by the sweet and typical aroma of its fruit. Almond oil is composed of more than 65% oleic acid, the well-known omega 9 in extra virgin olive oil, and more than 20% linoleic acid, the precursor of all other types of omega 6. Sweet almond oil is a rich source of vitamin E, vitamin A, B1, B2, B6. Ingested almond oil can help aid digestion, promote physiological intestinal transit, as well as refresh and purify the intestines and bladder. Sweet almond oil is widely used in cooking to season dishes, either on its own or flavored with 100% pure essential oils.
